Chris Lowe has been Carp fishing for almost ten years and holds a p.b Mirror of 46lb 4oz and a p.b Common of 56lb.
His favourite venue is Linear Fisheries in Oxford were there are a wide range of waters, including 6 different day ticket waters with at least 3 of them containing 40lb Carp. Each of the waters respond to different tactics and this gives chris a water to fish for almost all weather conditions.
One of Chris's favouroute methods of fishing is solid bag fishing which works well almost everywhere.
His favouroute products include the Chub 13ft 3.5tc Vantage Rods, Chub Cyclone EZ, Chub Carp Care Cradle, Coolstyle Food Bag and Chair Mate.
News from Chris Lowe – Monday 26th July 2010“Over the past few months I have been quite busy doing my tutorials on the banks of Linear Fisheries and I must say they have gone very well with everyone going away very happy and learning lots.
“I haven’t been doing a lot of fishing for myself until recently where I have managed to get out and, although the conditions haven’t been great what with all the high pressure in charge (it’s been more like sunbathing weather than fishing weather!) I have managed a few fish, although I haven’t had any monsters, at least I have been getting regular takes which is the most important thing.
“On my last trip out I took a visit to my syndicate water in Shropshire where on my arrival I found the lake pretty full with only two swims free. After talking to a few of the lads that were fishing I found out that the swim I fancied was coming free the next morning so I dropped into the swim closest so I didn’t have to move to far the next day.
“After an uneventful night I got into my chosen swim and went about getting my rods sorted hoping for a quick bite but I knew that all the runs were coming off either through the night or very early morning so I really didn’t expect anything. Then, at about 5.30am my middle rod rattled off and after about 15 mins of a hectic fight a nice scaly fish rolled into the net - it wasn’t a big fish, so after weighing it in at 26.8 and taking a few shots it went back. It wasn’t until about 9am when my left rod was away and again after quite a good fight of about 15 mins another fish rolled into the net and after weighing it and taking a few shots it turned out to be a lovely clean looking 29.10 mirror.”

“On a recent trip to my syndicate water I decided to fish the bottom lake which I haven’t fished for almost two years but just fancied a change.
"After setting up just on the border line between the shallow water and the deeper end in the hope of intercepting them going between the two I had a quick flick about with the marker rod and found it to be very weedy so I managed to find three clear spots and spread about 1 kilo of freebies over the top. All my baits were fished the way I had caught from there in the past which was a 14mm SBS lobworm bottom bait but this time I tipped them each with a different colour SBS corn popper - one white, one yellow and one orange then just settled back to see if anything would happen. Luckily I only had to wait until first light when my left hand 13ft 3.5TC Greys Torsion rod ripped off and after a long hard fight I finally slipped the net under quite a big fish and, after taking a few shots of it and weighing the fish it settled on the scales at 42.10 which is a fish I have caught before at a weight of 36lb. I am over the moon to see it well into the 40lb bracket.
"I had another couple of nights left so I was quite hopeful of more fish but the weather got really warm and the fish moved into the shallows where the weed is so thick that it made it unfishable, so it turned out to be the only fish I had but at 42.10 it made the trip well worth it.”

“Fishing recently has been hard as I have been very busy at work and doing quite a few tutorials and, although I have been on the bank allot I’ve not been fishing for myself a great deal having only managed the odd night around the tutorials and seven overnighters to account for in the last two months. Hopefully over the next months or so however I am going to get some fishing in for myself and, now the weather is getting better things should start picking up, although saying that we are now into May and we had quite a hard frost this week and the North East wind has been blowing for the last week with no sign yet of it turning. This really isn’t the best start in May!
“While I have been out recently I have had a few fish but no monsters, only managing fish up to 27.8lb with most of my tally being made up with double’s. I know I should be happy with whatever comes along but on the waters I have been on I do feel as though I was a little unlucky with the size’s and really think there should have been at least a few better fish mixed in there with them.”
“Hopefully better luck next time!”

News from Chris Lowe – Monday 1st March 2010
“Fishing has been a bit slow of late what with all the ice and snow that we have had. With only two nights spent fishing since Christmas when we did finally get a few days of mild weather I just couldn’t wait to get out for a couple nights fishing.
“I packed up the motor and got to the lake on Thursday 25th of February at around 11am. Having had a walk around the lake I didn’t see anything which wasn’t surprising considering the time of year, so I chose a swim which gave me access to the deeper end of the lake and is normally a decent winter swim.
“I wasn’t in a rush to get the rods in as I was hoping to see something while I set up the bivvy and got some new rigs tied up. As luck would have it after about half an hour or so I saw three fish show right in front of the swim - I was in at about 50 yards range and all within a 30yard area.
“I put my rods with two pop ups on the left and right rods and a bottom bait in the middle just to cover all my options. I then scattered about 2 to 3 kilos of bait over the area with the throwing stick - the bait I used was SBS baits Ace Lobworm boilies in 14mm which is the bait that has produced the most fish over the last two years on this lake. Just as I had finished putting the bait out I had a run on my right rod and considering how cold the water still is it put up a really good fight and must have taken me 15 minutes to land. When it finally went into the net it looked a good fish and after unhooking and weighing, it took the scales at around to 32.8 - I was very happy as the lake hadn’t produced a fish since October!
“After getting the fish back into the water and my rod back out I must admit that my confidence had risen and I was hoping for another bite - but nothing happened. When I woke up in the morning I was a little disappointed and with the weather getting colder again the temperature seemed to be dropping by the minute. However, at around 10am the left rod slowly tightened up and started taking line. As I hit into it I thought it might be a good fish because it was a much slower fight compared to the last one, although it kitted left then right it didn’t take any line but just came slowly to the net and as soon as it went in the net I was almost certain of which fish it was.
“After getting it on the bank it was confirmed and it was the fish I thought - my target fish for the water! Although this was not the biggest fish in the lake it was the one that I wanted the most so was over the moon. On the scales it went 47.3 and a great result for this time of the year. I did have one more night left so I was hoping for another but the weather was turning colder and as it turned out, must have turned the fish back off the feed because I never saw another fish or even had a liner for the rest of my session. So, although disappointed not to have had more fish I was well made up with what I did have and to top it all it was a new PB Mirror for me - upping it from 46.4 to now 47.3 and a great start to the new year.
“Hopefully things might just be picking up and everywhere might start fishing, I will keep you informed!”
